About Language Exchange Ireland
Language Exchange Ireland was founded in 2012 to create opportunities for people to practise and improve languages with native speakers and meet new people in a structured, organised setting. What began as a small Spanish/English exchange has grown into a welcoming community where learners and fluent speakers connect every week in Dublin.
Today it’s Ireland’s most popular weekly language event, with a wide range of languages, a big mix of ages and a consistently great atmosphere. Tens of thousands of people have taken part, proving how effective our format is — and yes, it’s lots of fun too!
What makes us different
- Organised & supportive: clear structure + positive, helpful vibe.
- Real conversations: practical speaking time with native speakers.
- Community feel: regulars, newcomers and visitors help each other.
How it works
- Equal time: 5 minutes in English + 5 minutes in your target language.
- Rotate partners: switch table and partner each round.
- Hosts on site: we seat you, keep timing and answer questions.
- All levels welcome: from absolute beginners to advanced.
